This posted is specially for my MIT class-fellows at Virtual University.

I have full time job as an Internet Marketing Manager in a reputed firm. Since internet is becoming a part of our everyday life I have thought to create a series of articles to increase your/my Internet IQ, this means “the awareness to use internet for create purpose”. Like many of you, I have been receiving many emails of “Get Rich Schemes” and “Earn money from home” etc. As every sensible person knows, there is no short cut to success, I have been in this field for almost 5 years and there is only one way to get success i.e. hard work and updated knowledge.
So to share my knowledge with you people I will post various informative articles on my blog and I will email you whenever I will post something new, this way our knowledge will grow. I will post informative and easy articles, if you have got any question or trouble understanding them, you can always ask me.
Also if any of you want to share his/her knowledge I will be delighted to know, but please friends only share knowledge and useful things, no get rich schemes etc.

So here is my first article:

What is RSS? How to use RSS Feed?

RSS stands for “Really simple syndication” and it is one of the most useful aspects of every good website and it helps us to save our time.

RSS is a summary of new and updated content of any website and if you like any website due to its useful knowledge, and this website also has RSS, then by using it’s RSS you will always know immediately whenever new information is posted and you do not need to remember the address of website or check it for new information. RSS automates this process.

Remember getting an RSS is always Free and easy.

Important Note:

The process of getting RSS is called “Subscribe to RSS”. This is the correct technical term and you should remember it “Subscribe to RSS”. From now on, I will use this term and this will mean “Get RSS”. Also RSS is sometimes called “RSS Feed”. So if you read this term anywhere do not get confused “RSS Feed = RSS”.

The standard icon for RSS is

rss-icon

whenever you see this icon anywhere on internet then this means that the page which you are seeing is available through RSS and if you like it, you can get it.

How to use RSS?

I have covered the basics of RSS, now we talk how to get RSS or Subscribe RSS. Remember, to subscribe RSS you will need a “Reader” , a special RSS Reader. Again RSS Reader is a common thing and it is free. The best RSS Reader is from Google, it is available with regular Gmail account and requires no special procedure. Google RSS Reader is called “Google Reader” and you can get it from this link “http://www.google.com/reader“. Kindly note this link for future reference.

Whenever you will try to get an RSS of any website, it will ask you about the RSS Reader of your choice, remember to choose Google for this purpose, it is best, easy and free. I explain the method of getting a RSS Feed below.

Below I will tell you as an example, How to Get RSS Feed for this blog, kindly do all the steps as I tell you and the process is simple for all other websites.

    Example:
